Best classes ever!

I took this course in winter 2020, planning for my 2nd season of flower farming and I’m so glad I did. I gained such a huge amount of knowledge for expanding my offering ! It gave me the confidence to expand my bulbs, perennials, shrubs production efficiently, avoiding years of trials and errors and $$ loss. Dave is an awesome teacher (and a living flower farming encyclopedia;) and putted all on his knowledge in easy to understand way, and thouroughly and clearly answered all questions. It was really like having a very skilled perso/big brother in your office telling you “do more of this, stop messing with that” and that was exactely what I needed !

I feel like I always have Dave in my back pocket after taking this course. All I need to do is open the course- go to the perennial I’m about to plant and get all of his tips and tricks on demand. His connection with graduates after class ends is also much appreciated- answering questions in the private group all the time. Thank you!

A great course. Dave is an encyclopedia of knowledge gleamed from years of flower farming. I live in Nova Scotia Zone 5a and was able to ask questions that were pertinent to me and my growing situation. A must have course.

An excellent course for what to add to your flower farm to take it to the next level! But you don’t have to be advanced to make this worthwhile. I haven’t even planted a first seed or harvested a stem, but this course was really educational if you’re a big picture person. Like Lisa, Dave is as knowledgeable about the business/selling part of flower farming as he is at growing the product, so you won’t be disappointed. The live weekly sessions are a great place to get your specific questions answered and to learn from what classmates ask.

Dave’s course is exceptional. It has taken me a few months to really chew on the material in my mind, and now I am starting to explode with ideas of how to implement the crops he offers. This course does an excellent job offering ideas of advancing your cutting options. Not every crop offered will be suitable for your farm, but the vastness of crops offered gives numerous avenues to explore. My farm has blossomed early on with annuals, however we now plan to implement large sections of perennial and woodies that will fit our business model perfectly. The best part for me is that I now have access to the correct information for the cut flower industry and won’t spend years trying out this and that until I stumble upon a gem. There are SO many gems that Dave offers for you to advance your farm! I’m so grateful for this course, and the amazing potential that can be realized from the information offered. Really excited to get started!

What has been amazing to me is how many times I have watched segments of Dave’s class over and over again! In addition to learning the most profitable Perennials, Bulbs, and Woody Stems we could grow, Dave also teaches how to grow them and which ones will work on your farm. Just this morning I pulled up all Dave’s sessions and watched them while I poured over catalogs and starting ordering what we knew we could grow, what we would sell and where we could grow them on our farm. Our investment in Dave’s AFFSO classes have literally saved us thousands of dollars we would have wasted otherwise. Thank you Dave and Lisa!

This course was amazing so much information. Dave answers all your questions and is a book of knowledge. I would recommend this course to anyone who loves flowers. And wants to grow and sell them. The Private Facebook page is very helpful also.

I took Dave’s class this winter and obsessed over the perennials. I referred to the class again today for planting info for my newly arrived baptisia. Definitely worthwhile.

I took Advanced Flower Farming School this year and it truly was an investment in myself. I had taken Lisa’s Flower Farming School last year and was ready to broaden my knowledge. Lisa’s course gave me a great foundation to build on and Dave’s Advanced Flower Farming School has proven invaluable. I have learned so much and feel confident in my ability to be a successful flower farmer. I often refer to the class when I have a question or have an issue here on the farm. Dave is an excellent instructor. Lisa once said that “Dave is like an encyclopedia on flower farming”. She is so right. I highly recommend this course!

Having lifetime access to your courses is absolutely a life saver! All winter and spring I have been referring back to your cool flowers book and video and Dave’s class is still being referred to multiple times a week as I figure out something in the field, prepare to plant something new and plan for this fall. Last night I sat down and reviewed portions of Jennie’s class as I was preparing for a consult today. I love that everything is so clearly labeled and easy to find and you can just pop back and find just what you need!

It was soooo worth it taking Dave Dowling’s Advanced Flower Farming course — where do I begin? Not only does Dave share his extensive knowledge through the live QA sessions, his course was very well organized and thorough, covering so much within the best of the tried and true flower cuts each of us should try and grow. Additionally, Dave was very responsive and detailed in questions asked through the online forum that was so valuable — you have a question? He gives you the answers and more. I have purchased many perennials, bulbs and other plants discussed and cannot wait to have these as main staples in my flower offerings. I learned a lot and am so happy I decided to take this class. Bravo!

This class opened my mind to so many more avenues of income for my small farm. It’s incredibly practical and thorough. Highly recommend.

If you haven’t taken this class I HIGHLY recommend it!! But be ready for a fire hydrant of info coming at you!! Dave’s method of teaching is very concise. We really like how easy it is to look back at the course and easily find the plant we need to know more about and listen again. It changed the way we now think about our flower farm and the importance of perennials!! So worth the money and time you will invest in this class!

Dave answered questions I never thought of asking. Anyone interested in learning more about perennials and shrubs suitable for cutting and arranging will not be disappointed, even if they never sell a single stem. However, those who do sell flowers or arrangements will add a library of up-to-date and tested information to set their business apart. Before you plant another perennial or shrub, invest in this concise, informative and comprehensive class taught by a master with decades of business and flower farming experience. Well organized, informative, concise. I will be reviewing this class every year. Each time I review a particular ‘chapter’, I discover additional nuggets to augment my selection and growing processes. I took both classes this past year. I was afraid I might be wasting my money. I have been a home gardener for 25 years and know a lot about flowers and plants and growing conditions in the landscape. However, I learned quickly that is not the same as flower Farming! Lisa and Dave both have a wealth of knowledge that have been extremely helpful to me to get started in cut flower production. I also love that I can go back and listen to different parts of a course to refresh my memory! You will learn to work smarter and plan better from these courses!

As a recent “graduate” of Lisa’s Online Flower Farming School, we knew an investment in Dave Dowling’s Advanced Flower Farming School was a must! As second year commercial flower farmers we knew we needed to invest in perennial crops, bulbs and plan for long term but we had no idea where to begin. After sitting through Dave’s class we felt like we had a road map and a business plan to build a profitable business to get growing for four seasons as a flower farm.

Highly recommend this class, lots of incredible information. Love the weekly live Q&A, Dave is quick to reply to any questions posted. Lots of resources and information offered in growing, harvesting and working with wholesalers and suppliers. One of the most affordable classes offered, such a great offer.

I’m a newbie grower from Southeast Asia. Since I have a different growing zone, I asked Dave with questions that are completely not in sync with what my other classmates asked. Dave answers all of my questions in details and extensively. I got my answers for all these questions that I have for so long. Totally worth it. I encourage all the growers around the world to take this course.

Same goes for Lisa course as well. For those of you who’s interested in flower farming I encourage you guys to take Lisa course as well!

I’m in my 8th year of business, and still feel there is much to be learned. This course shows how completely true that is! Dave offers much information that I didn’t even realize I was missing- from growing freesia correctly to storing my expensive fall bulbs for the next year’s planting. He’s also quick to respond and goes into real depth when answering questions. I’m going to refer back to this course year after year- thank you Gardener’s Workshop Farm for offering such a valuable resource!

We have been growing veggies for 18 years and flowers for 15. I took both Dave’s and Lisa’s course this past winter and learned a lot about some new ways and flowers to plant. Some of the info i won’t be able to use now but the great thing is I can go back and reference the information when I’m ready for that next step! I highly recommend both courses!!

This class was exactly what I needed. A no fuss but thorough guide to bulbs and perennials. It is full of so much information I would have never been able to dig up myself and I love that I can go back and quickly re-listen whenever I need a refresher. I’m a few years into my farm business and it was just the info I needed to take it to the next level. Highly recommend.

This course was the great “ deep dive” into perennials that I was looking for! Dave Dowling is the bulb master and guru of perennials! I learned how to improve my methods and more info on varieties I was curious about. The slides and handouts were so informative, but the question/answer sessions were especially helpful!

I had an amazing learning experience these course gave me a better understanding on the needs of the soil to produce spectacular flowers.

I’m so glad I invested in myself and took this course. I took Lisa’s course in 2018 (which is great, too) and then Dave’s course this year. It was so full of information vital to growing and I feel like it’s given me a definite step up in the flower farming business. He covers so many of the main cut flower/shrubs in this class and is quick to give secrets and tips on growing and harvesting. I refer back to these classes all the time.

I can’t express enough how much this class taught me about flower farming. Lisa and Dave are both incredible, and their knowledge about all aspects of the business is the reason I’m able to run a successful farm. The class and knowledge shared is invaluable, and their weekly Q&A sessions ON TOP of all of the class info, extra handouts, and supplier information is worth the purchase price alone! There isn’t a week that goes by that I don’t refer back to my notes, and today I rewatched a session about how to harvest a specific flower that’s a bit tricky. Lifetime access to everything, and I’ll be referring back for my entire career! Whether you’re a new grower or one with some experience, hands down this is the class every flower farmer needs to take.

I so enjoyed the AFFSO class with Dave Dowling. I have always gardened with bulb, tubers, and perennials. As the are the flowers that keep on giving. Dave is like a walking talking botanical reference book. I learned so much in his class. He is very giving of his time, and his knowledge . He has a precise, consistent way of teaching each plant or species. A weekly Q & A lets you ask deeper questions or clarify what you could not grasp during his class. Highly recommend taking his class, you will not regret doing so.

I am a lifelong student. I love to learn. I have taken a lot of classes on flower farming. Lisa’s fantastic Flower Farming school is the seed starting, growing, bed making, and selling part in regards to mainly annuals. Dave’s class, Advanced Flower Farming School, takes it from there with woodies, growing in crates, bulbs, perennials, etc.
From my first exposure to Dave on a live with Lisa, it became clear he is a no-nonsense, walking plant encyclopedia. That is what you get in this class too. Straightforward, somewhat bullet pointed, concise information on each topic. I appreciate this because it is easy to go back to reference a subject without having to listen to long videos. Most sections are short 10-20 minute bits that cover what you need, show photos or videos, and get straight to it. Don’t let that make you think the content isn’t there, it is! There a tons of videos in each unit. He also had a lot of great handouts and info on sourcing material. I am still going back to my notes or rewatching parts as I move through my season. He is sensible too. He acknowledges that we are all operating on different scales, with different equipment, and in different markets. I appreciate that. Now, if you are looking for highly polished, glossy coffee table photos/videos, and all the marketing trimmings in the appearance of the class, this is not it. But, it doesn’t need to be all that to make the class wonderful! This class is real and informative. I highly recommend you take it. Everyone has something they will learn from Dave. Thanks, Dave!

I took AFFSO class this past winter. As a new flower farmer (second year) I found it extremely helpful. I’ve been an avid gardener for years and can honestly see this course being valuable no matter how long you’ve been growing.
